>>>
Achtung: Never use any lubricant for the throttle cables! Never try to force any sort of lubrication material into these cables! The OEM cables are coated with a special teflon material that ensures smooth operation for lifetime. Any kind of oil that will be applied can lead to expansion of the coating, and hamper the smoothness of cable movement. In extreme cases the cable movement could be blocked.
... etc etc etc ..., then
Should the throttle operation feel too stiff, only use a small amount of WD40 on the 'open' ends for cleaning, and then use a small amount of molykote grease. This is the best. Should this not help, the Suzuki experts recommend flushing the cables with WD40. Use molykote as well sparsely for the throttle mechanism.

The thread just popped again into my eyes. I actually did get a confirmation from my Suzuki guy I know in Germany. All V-Strom cables have permanent teflon coating and do not require extra lubrication over the entire life span. Thus, it confirms the above is valid for all V-Strom cables, regardless 1000 or 650.
